分成三段。

第一段：两句话自我介绍＋研究经历中最大的一个亮点展示＋就读phd意向。（主要是让教授明白两件事：1. 你是严肃考虑读博的；2. 你的资历背景是达标的。如果你有名校教授指导的研究经历，酒店出实验室名字和教授名字，如果有论文发表／会议投稿也要点出期刊）

第二段：解释怎么了解教授的研究的＋陈述自己phd期间想研究的课题。（目的是让老师知道ta不是备胎，你是有自己的研究想法的。解释如何了解教授的渠道包括：我上了xx课，里面你的论文是reading list，我读过后有xx心得；我在xxx实验室里干活，ta给我推荐了你的xx专著……在陈述自己的phd期间兴趣课题的时候，尽量用问句形式，而且一定是要和这个导师相关的）

第三段：用一个是否疑问句问老师今年招不招学生＋找理由约skype meeting。（为了获得重要信息，也就是今年是否招生。同时，约到meeting甚至有可能直接带来phd offer）举例，”I hope you don’t mind my getting in touch, but I’d like to inquire whether you are currently accepting graduate students. If you are, would you willing to talk to me a bit more, by email or on the phone, or in person if I can arrange a campus visit, about my graduate school plans? I have explored your department’s graduate school website in detail, and it seems like an excellent fit for me because of its emphasis on xxx and xxx, but I still have a few specific questions about xxx and xxx that I’s like to talk to you about.”

最后的一句客套话也是必须的！”I know you’re very busy so I appreciate any time you can give me. Thanks very much.”
